The station, located in the picturesque coastal town of Alnmouth in Northumberland, England, underwent significant enhancements during this period to accommodate the growing railway network. The plan reveals the station's expanded layout, which included additional platforms and facilities to accommodate more trains and passengers. The original station building, located at the center of the plan, is shown with its distinctive gabled roof and symmetrical design. Two new platforms, numbered 3 and 4, were added to the eastern side of the station, connected by a covered footbridge. Platform 3 was designed for the use of goods trains, while Platform 4 served passengers. The plan also reveals the location of various station facilities, such as the goods shed, parcels office, and signal box. The goods shed, situated to the north of the station, was used for the storage and handling of freight. The parcels office, located near the station entrance, was where passengers could collect or send parcels and letters. The signal box, positioned at the southern end of the station, controlled the flow of trains on the railway line. The addition of these facilities and platforms allowed Alnmouth Station to better serve the needs of the local community and the expanding railway network.
